Character Education is basics to our life

At a recent in service training program for teachers, John Doyle, Miami-Dade Country Schools. Administrative Director for the Division for Social Sciences, made the case for character education. He reminded teachers of the of the growing consensus about the basic need of the character education that recently in the face of increasing concerns about behavior & negative societal influences. He basically pointed out that despite people that make differences over the political, social, & mainly in cultural issues, about the core values such as respect, responsibility, & honesty are universal. The Pupil Progression Plan of Miami-Dade County Public Schools requires character education, as based on the districts? Nine core values, for all students, grades K-12.

According to a leading character educator, Dr. Thomas Lickona, the question is not that to take concern about character education, but do perform well in that. For that the Division of Social Sciences co-sponsored the recent teacher in service with Living Values Education. The Program which we are taking for includes a global collaborative of educators who are seeking to create educational environments where all participants, children’s, parents, teachers, administrator, staff, & others will feel respected, valued, cared about, & appreciated too. As we begun the project in the celebration of the 50^th anniversary of the United Nations & now it will be supported by the UNESCO, UNICEF, and several well regarded peace organization, instantly this is project is going on approximately in 70 countries world-wide, & has recently been introduced in Miami-Dade Country. The Miami Shores/Barry University Connected Learning Community Charter School has agreed to become a national demonstration site, and nearly 100 teachers from schools throughout the district participated in the recent character education in-service program.

The Miami-Dade School District has designated a main focus value for each & every month during its school year. The value of February is referring to be as INTEGRITY. There is no any rule anyone can participate in this & take an initiative by becoming the part living values. Just think about what the integrity is basically & how can it be Miami-Dade School demonstrated throughout the day. Is the integrity is one your specialties? Would students learn integrity by watching your behavior? What happens when people don’t exhibit integrity?

Character Education is just the program unless it comes alive in all of us. Practice what you preach i a very simple axiom, but it is the reason that living Values has worked so well all over the world, & now it’s pledge to support Miami-Dade County Schools path of Character Education
